Lockdown 2.0 is happening and it's ✨uncomfortable✨

Hey everyone,

Long time no see.

I just wanted to pop in and see how everyone was doing? Lockdown 2.0 was a bit of a shock to be honest and it's been quite an adjustment to get used to staying in again and working/ studying from home. I am currently in my third year of studying English Literature and Creative Writing. I'm not going to lie, I've never enjoyed online lectures😥! I get so nervous and end up saying the wrong thing, or not enough, or stuttering and I just can't get to grips with it ever. Don't get me started on these final year essays, I'm struggling with imposter syndrome massively!

My tips for you all would be these things that have been keeping me sane-

  • Self-care. Make sure you're looking after yourself, and by this I mean, eat as healthily as you can. Do any bits of exercise, even if it's just a small walk around every hour. Take time for a relaxing bath. Look after yourself. You, of COURSE, can indulge in bad food and have lazy days, but DON'T let them become a habit, or you will start to feel shit. Having said that - also don't be too hard on yourself, you're only human and these are WEIRD times.
  • Routine. Schedule. Regime. Whatever you want to call it. Have a plan of things you're going to do every day because if you don't, your days will collapse in on themselves and you will feel a loss of motivation and end up being less productive. Even if it's as simple as 'Get up. Have breakfast. Do the washing. Change bedsheet. Reply to emails. Tv/Relax. Have tea.' something as simple as this and being able to tick off the things you've achieved massively improves mental health.
  • Talk to loved ones if you can and if not, then L I T E R A L L Y if you go on Twitter, I guarantee you will find someone to talk with. You can even search 'someone to talk to' 'new friend' 'does anyone want a chat' etc. and you'll find that someone has tweeted this and you can find someone just to chat with about the time we're living in and the struggles or benefits you've encountered. Of course, if you have family/ friends then speaking with them is crucial, it really boosts your mood and reminds you you're not alone. It can help you feel less claustrophobic.

Does anyone have any tips for getting through these incredibly unprecedented times? Leave them in the comments section if you do - you might just help someone!

Peace and Love always -

DOES YOUR PAST DEFINE YOU?

It all depends on you.

That's the short answer to the title of this post.

I've been thinking a lot about the past recently, this is due to the constant reminders from Facebook's 'on this day' and the 'timehop' app on my iPhone. Old pictures, status' and tweets are constantly popping up now-a-days and it's been making me ponder over the question 'Have I changed from who I used to be?'

Now, I'm only 20 years old so I don't want to come across pretentious and act as if i've 'learnt so much over the past few years' however, I do think I have learnt a little.

I used to be extremely naive and childish. I was always trying to join in with whatever crowd I was with and make people laugh.. even if it was at other peoples expense. I'm in no way ignorant or a bully. I would never be that person, but I was bitchy, and I would laugh with my 'OLD' friends about other people. Looking back now I hate the person I used to be, I might've been more popular and had more friends - but was any of it real if I was just acting?

Basically since leaving high school and having a few years alone, secluded from the influence of others, I have learnt that I am a much better person now than I ever was then. I'm smarter, more confident within myself and more positive for the future. I find myself now wanting.. even HOPING for others around me to succeed. I love how time away from 'the world' has allowed me to become a nicer, more humble and positive person.

Basically, wherever you come from, whoever you are, whatEVER you've been through- you CAN change and your past certainly does NOT define you.

The reason I mentioned 'It depends on you' is because if you're from a rough background and put yourself down a lot and listen to negative people around you telling you 'this is your life' 'this is all you'll ever amount to' then YES, they're right. You won't progress in your life if you constantly listen to the people holding you back. However, if you wake up, look at yourself and say 'I am better than this, I can over-come any hurdle and achieve success in my passion/s' then you WILL change and achieve everything you want.

Your past can only define you if you let it. Break the 'system', escape the negativity and the influence of snakes around you and remember to stay humble- always.

You can do this.

I'm telling you.

All my love,

SUMMER IS COMING

Okay guys, picture Jon Snow(only GOT fans will get this reference).. now picture the complete opposite of him and that's who I am right now. I am optimistic, excited and… not dead. Well actually, that joke won't work anymore considering GOT's latest events buuuut anyways-

I just cannot wait for summer, even though it's basically upon us right now.

Summer months just overwhelm me with excitement. I'm full of energy and motivation when the weather is nice and bright.

Here in the UK we barely get to see a blue sky, therefore it's always a pleasure to see the sun popping out to say hello.

Now that we have finally started to enter these heavenly, warm breezy months I have plenty of great posts coming up, summer D.I.Y's, recipes, adventure stories, summer tips- when the sun is shining, my inspiration meter goes from 0-100 REAL QUICK.

If you can't tell already, I'm absolutely ecstatic for these upcoming months.

I will catch you all in my next post.

I just thought I'd take the time to write this small post and hopefully manage to get my thoughts and feelings out there to you all.

I have spent this last week clearing my head and really focusing on improving my ideas/ plans for the future.

I am going to be completely honest when saying that I have never been 100% fully committed to this blog, the content has definitely not been consistent enough. This has been on my mind a lot, HOWEVER, fear not- I have fresh ideas and big plans for my beloved little blog.

I am planning to schedule my posts in advance and really start producing some good quality content for you guys that I really enjoy creating myself rather than churning out the same old posts as everyone else.

6 EASY TIPS FOR LIVING A POSITIVE LIFE

This week I have teamed up with new and up-coming artist Jonathan Abbott to create a series of images that encapsulate the meaning behind these 6 positive outlooks on life. Jonathan has created the images and captions and I have written my personal explanation of these captions underneath.

1. TAKE TIME OUT TO RELAX

This is such an essential rule to live by. For days/ times in your life when you're low and stressed, it's so important to take time to relax and enjoy the world around you. Whether that's a holiday, a day to yourself or just going for your favourite meal at a cafe. Just remember that self-love is the most important love and you need to care for yourself in order to live positively.

2. DONT BE CONTROLLED, BE IN CONTROL

Another really important tip to live positively is to remember that YOU are the one in control of your life. No-one is in charge of you, not your career nor any other person. It's you that determines your future. So remember to not let society/ the world control you, because ultimately YOU are the one in control.

3. MAKE THE BEST OF EVERY SITUATION

When life gives you lemons... make lemonade. We ALL have days/ times in our life when things don't go our way or when bad things happen. We can either let these situations eat away at us and destroy us, or we can change our perspective and make the best of these situations. Stay positive and keep on making the best of things.

4. STAY PEACEFUL, EVEN IN HOSTILE TIMES
It's easy to get angry and lash out. It's easy to lose it and hold grudges, however, you need to learn to stay peaceful in these hostile situations and focus on the positive outcomes. Especially with so much terror going on in the world these days it can make you feel hostile towards different people/ situations. You need to pay attention to the beauty of what the world has to offer. The more people that focus on the bad and stay angry, the more hurt and pain will grow. If you can learn to stay peaceful, your life can become a lot more positive for you and those that surround you.

5. LET YOUR GOOD RELATIONSHIPS GROW AND YOUR BAD ONES DIE

If you're really looking for an important life lesson, then this is definitely it. Once you accept to let go of relationships and friendships that have turned sour and are no longer benefiting either party, your life will become a lot more positive and you'll notice that success seems to gravitate towards you in all aspects. If you also learn to nourish your good relationships with people you will become more confident within yourself and your days will become a lot brighter/ worthwhile.

6. ALWAYS SHARE YOUR PASSIONS

Out of all these 6 tips, I believe this one to be the most influential. I think when you have a passion, something that you truly, honestly love with all your heart. Whether it's writing, drawing, teaching, being an astronaut etc. you should share it with the world. You'll regret it for the rest of your life if you don't try your best to live your passions now and share them with the world.

I hope this blog post was beneficial for you all. I would just like to say a huge thank you to Jonathan Abbott (click on his name and it will take you to his art instagram) He designed all of these incredible images with captions for me.

5 THINGS YOU NEED TO WATCH ON NETFLIX

If you're an obsessive Netflix fan like myself, then you'll always be on the look out for new things to watch.
The trouble with Netflix is knowing what to watch when there is just SO much god-dammed choice.
It's impossible to choose.
So I've narrowed it down to my top 5 things I've been loving recently.
These choices are a variety of different genres, so there should be at least something here that one of you can enjoy.

TOP 5

1. Suits

This is a fantastic series about a young man who fakes his way into becoming a sort of apprentice-lawyer. He pretends he has gained a degree in Law from Harvard, however he has never even attended this school. It's all about the law firm and the people that work there. You grow to love and hate these characters as the journey continues. It's full of exciting cases and an intriguing story-line that will keep you hooked the whole way through. You also learn a LOT about the law system.
Give this a watch if you haven't already.

2. Making a Murderer

You've probably already heard of this series, as it has been spreading across the world like wild-fire. This is a series about the unfortunate events that occurred in Steven Avery's life, that ended up with him in prison for life. It is an extremely gripping documentary that will have you captivated after just one episode. Don't just dismiss it as something you wouldn't enjoy. Give it a try and I'm sure you'll be binge watching it and studying towards a degree in law in no-time. Seriously though, I can't describe this series within mere words, you have to experience it yourself.

3. The Vampire Diaries

I'm taking a slightly different direction with this one… slightly? Okay, okay I'm taking it in a COMPLETELY different direction. This is a programme based upon the books with multiple seasons so you can really stick with the story. It is based around a girl Elena Gilbert, who is the doppleganger of 'Catherine Pierce'. Catherine was the love of two Vampires lives 'Damon and Stefan'. In an attempt to find love again, the two handsome vampires target Elena to try and gain her love. They end up competing for her affection. It is a incredible adventure with Vampires, Werewolves and much, much more. Watch it if you think you might enjoy this.

4. Happy

This is a one off documentary programme looking at what it means to be 'happy'. This might seem like a silly programme BUT it really does make you appreciate what you have in life and can honestly change your mindset completely. I loved this programme because it made me realise what really mattered in life. It isn't the money, or the success- it's more the people you're around and the life you're living. Please, if you're ever feeling discouraged, watch this programme to remind you what really matters.

5. Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron

This is a cartoon. Please don't let this get in the way of what a fantastic film it is. Think about disney films- they are NOT just for children, there messages are so strong, they can relate to anyones problems/situations in life. This film is about a young stallion who leaves home to ward off some strange humans from getting too close to his pack of wild horses, he ends up getting captured and enduring pain by the humans, he ends up escaping, meeting indians and falling in love. It's such an inspirational film, with amazing hidden life lessons in between. It has FANTASTIC music in it, done by the incredible Hans Zimmer and Bryan Adams. Seriously, youtube the soundtrack and if that doesn't make you want to watch it then… GET OFF MY BLOG! Haha, kidding.

Okay guys, I hope these recommendations helped you. I'll see you next Monday for a new post!

Love,

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR EVERYONE TO REMEMBER

Hey guys,

This is a little post with a BIG meaning. I just want to spread the message of 'make time for those who matter most' what I mean by this is- the people that mean the most to you, e.g. family and friends should always be a constant part of your life. Sometimes, life can seem like it's getting in the way. You might be thinking a whirlwind of different thoughts and emotions all the time, like, 'What am I going to do with my life?' 'What if this job interview goes wrong?' 'I need to focus JUST on my career if I want to succeed!' It is COMPLETELY natural to feel this way, but you need to fit in time for the people that have helped and supported you the most.

Read below for WHY you should make the time for certain people!

First and foremost, you need to make time for family. This is a necessity in life. Do not take your family for granted, unless of course they've been unspeakably cruel towards you. It is normal for you and your family to fall out, however, never let this ruin your relationship. You may HATE your family at times or wish bad things upon them, but I am telling you now, you WILL regret it later on in life. So forgive, forget and move on. Trust me, you'll feel better for it in the long run.

Friends, now this is VERY important. You need to always make time for friends, not the kind of 'friends' that you don't enjoy the company of and you feel awkward/ uncomfortable around. These people are not your friends. If you feel like you're around people that don't appreciate you or that don't push you towards achieving your dreams, you need to cut them out of your life and FIND NEW FRIENDS that make you feel like you can achieve anything you want. STAY in constant contact with these people and never let them go. Find friends that make you laugh SO much that you forget your own name. Laughter is the key to life, never forget this!

Lastly, PETS! Never forget that animals are JUST AS important as humans (and in some cases even more so). Don't forget to make time for your pets. Just remember that they completely reply on you to look after them, in which case you should go above and beyond. Yes, life can get busy sometimes (MOST times) but if you do have a lovely loyal little companion, be it a dog, cat, smaller or larger animal, always love them as you would a child! They love you unconditionally, as you should love them. Take them on walks as much as possible, treat them, cuddle them until they drift into a comforting slumber!

I really hope you enjoyed reading this everyone, if you did then be sure to leave a comment down below and share with your friends!!

See you next Monday!!!
